This piece was inspired by a sunrise hike on the Sound of Silence trail in Dinosaur National Monument, Utah. This is the very same hike that inspired my painting of a juniper tree last fall. The trail definitely earned its name; I could hear nothing but birds as I explored the rocky multicolored hills. This national monument is an underrated and geologically fascinating place.
