Lake Isabelle lies within the Brainard Lake Recreation Area of the Indian Peaks Wilderness, just west of Boulder. Navajo, Apache, and Shoshoni peaks keep watch above this glacier-fed lake. The Pawnee Pass Trail leading here is a popular hike, continuing up to the Isabelle Glacier and the Continental Divide beyond. I love bringing visitors here; moose can often be seen grazing by the many streams that run down from the glacier and upper lakes.
